Tanja Matijašević

Tanja Matijašević is a pedagogue, puppeteer, improviser, athlete, and poet.

She was thirteen when she joined the Tone Čufar Theatre in Jesenice, and the theatrical arts have been part of her life ever since. A multifaceted story-teller, Tanja acquired her skills in many of the performing arts: puppeteering (Puppet Theatre in Jesenice), street theatre (KD Gašper Laberger Ribno-Bled), and improvisational theatre (Improvisational Theatre Ljubljana). Currently, she is a member of the improvisational collective Improške.

Fascinated by the meeting point of movement and poetry, Tanja has also been developing her poetic language under the mentorship of Brane Mozetič, Maja Vidmar, Kaja Teržan, Alja Adam, Jure Jakob. Nowadays, she finds her preferred space for self-expression on the stages of slam poetry, impro performances and DIY Cabarets.

Her keen interest in movement and the human body, has led her to a very successful athletic career: she was a member of Slovenia’s national floorball team for fifteen years, and has won more than ten national and international titles.

She is currently in the process of gaining her BA at the Faculty of Pedagogy in Maribor (Sports Training program).

Tanja also has a decade of experience in the field of pre-school education, and has collaborated on several international projects. In 2018, within the European project E+ What’s up in education – new models for future pre-school services, she developed and presented the tools of “impropedagogics”, an innovative approach to education.
