Jana Šnytová

Jana Šnytová, born 1976, studied Czech and French language and literature at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. For one year she has perfected her knowledge of French at the University of Amiens in France. During her studies, she began to translate French literature. After graduating she worked as teacher of Czech for foreigners at the Center for Czech as foreign language at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno. In Brno she also co-operated with Cultural and Artistic Association Proximus and with publishing house Vetus Via. Besides that she helped organizing various festivals and literary evenings. From 2005 to 2014 Šnytová was employed as a teacher of the Czech language at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. In that period she conceived the student translation competition and organized numerous literary events with Czech authors in Ljubljana. 

She took her doctor's degree in 2016 (disertation Analýza českých překladů ze slovinštiny překladatele Františka Benharta Analysis of Czech tranlations of Slovene literature by František Benhart). In 2018, she was awarded the rank of senior university teacher in the Department of Slavic Studies at University in Ljubljana, where she has been lecturing on Czech literature since 2011.
