Reading Club with PhD. Iztok Osojnik

Why should we read? What to read? How to read? How to analyze literature? How to write about literature? We will look for answers to those questions in discussions moderated by PhD. Our first meeting on 27th October 2015 will be informative – we will discuss reading methods and discussions about books. Our main goal is to stimulate accurate, but relaxed reading and reflection of selected books. We will also discuss what literature is, what is its role among other arts, what is its impact on individuals and personal growth, as well as on social dialog and social reality. We will expose the difference between “literature for leisure” and “high-quality literature”. We will explain why we need both kinds of literature and why we need to draw distinction between them. We will discuss the necessity of sustainable development of reading compatibility and the impact of literature on our everyday life and its quality.

On the second meeting on 22nd December 2015, we will discuss the following two works:

  • Tomo Podstenšek: Sodba v imenu ljudstva (a novel) and
  • Karl Jaspers: Vprašanje krivde (Die Schuldfrage, philosophy)

Tomo Podstenšek, the author of the novel, will join us at the meeting.

On the third meeting on 23rd February 2016, we will discuss the following book:

On the fourth meeting on 19th April 2016 we will discuss the book:

On the fifth meeting on 21st June 2016 we will discuss the book:

At the first meeting we have agreed on the following work manner:
